Last Saturday our friends came over to help us put our garden together. Jon borrowed his brothers truck so we could go to
Lowes and purchase the supplies to build our raised beds. We built three raised beds and we positioned them to be along our side fence because of the positioning of the sun. We also planted some herbs as well which I am growing on the deck; cilantro, rosemary, basil and oregano. In our raised beds we planted strawberries blueberries
zucchini onions tomatoes lettuce green peppers and spinach. We have never tried our hand at gardening but we thought we would head the prophets advice and till the earth. We also decided to have a small
FHE lesson about planting a garden and having your own food grow like the pioneers. I think they listened but who knows. Jon and I no nothing about this but we felt really strongly that this needs to be part of our food storage. I know if we listen to the prophet he won't steer us wrong. One other cute thing is when Jon went to go get the soil to fill the beds Taylor kept calling it "Poopy Dirt". Out of the mouths of babes.
